How Do You Shred Cabbage?

I like to shred cabbage by hand. First, remove any wilty outer leaves and trim the stalk end. Then slice the cabbage in half, cutting through the core. With the cabbage on the board flat side down, start with the part furthest from the core and slice, almost shaving the cabbage into 1⁄4-inch-thick lengths. You can also shred the cabbage in the food processor, but this hand method is so easy you can do it in the time it takes to get the processor out of the cupboard.
